A renowned Political Scientist and Senior lecturer at the Political Science Department of the University of Ghana, Professor Ransford Yaw Gyampo has questioned the basis for the appointment of Dr Ernest Addison as the Governor for Bank of Ghana.
Prof. Ransford Gyampo made this call on his Facebook wall on Wednesday, 9th August, 2023 after the Minority Leader has called for the resignation of the Governor and his Deputies for their ”incompetence and mismanagement” at the Central Bank.

In what seems to be a comment on the demand by the Minority Leader for the immediate resignation of the Governor and his Deputies, the Political Scientist, who has been vociferous on national issues, admitted that the Bank of Bank has virtually collapsed. Prof. Gyampo, who is also concerned on the discoveries made in the 2022 Annual report of Bank of Ghana ironically indicated that he has no issues if Dr Ernest Addison is incompetent but questioned the basis for the appointment of Dr Ernest Addison by the appointing authority.
”The BoG has virtually collapsed. It’s ok if Ernest Addison is incompetent and lacks the strong will to keep manipulators at bay. It is the analytical abilities of the one who appointed him that must be questioned” he wrote on his Facebook wall sighted by Masemtvgh.com.

The Minority Leader in Parliament and his party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Tuesday, 8th August, 2023, in a press conference, called for the immediate resignation of the Governor of Bank of Ghana and his Deputies for what he described as ”their incompetence” at the Central Bank.
The Minority Leader, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, in his press conference, issued out a twenty – one (21) day ultimatum to the Governor and his Deputies to resign or face their wrath.
