I would have fought to prevent oil production on my land per the current shoddy deal – Dormaahene

Osagyefo Oseadeyo Dr Agyemang Badu ||, has urged the government to take up the necessary arrangement to ensure that we get better deal for the oil production in the country.

Speaking at a re-launch of a clean up exercise at Suma Ahenkro, on Friday, August 4, the President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs admonished the current President to embark on a re-negotiation exercise we have with the various oil extraction companies to demand for better deals as the current deals are not in the best interest of Ghana.

Osagyefo Oseadeyo Dr Agyemang Badu || indicated that Ghana has been shortchanged for far too long by the oil production companies and that the time has come to call for a better variation in our signed contracts with the companies.

The President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs indicated that he will continue to speak until government takes up steps to get a greater percentage for the country.

Osagyefo Oseadeyo Dr Agyemang Badu || made this statement when he revealed how much, in terms of percentages, that other African countries are taking from oil production companies in a similar deal.

”Ghana under former President Kufour established one oil field and under former late President Mills and former President Mahama, they also established two additional oil fields.

”Do you know how much we get from our oil production as a country? Our neighbors in Nigeria have 51% of their oil benefits from the oil production companies and same is said of Equatorial Guinea. Surprisingly, Ghana gets only 17% of our oil benefits” he stated.

Osagyefo Oseadeyo Dr Agyemang Badu ||, who is worried about how the oil production companies continue to shortchange the country on our own oil benefits indicated how he, as the Omanhene of Dormaa Traditional Area, would have fought to prevent oil drilling on his land if there were oil deposits in his Traditional Area. ”While Nigeria is getting 51% from their oil production, we are receiving a paltry 17%. With this poor arrangement, if there was an oil deposit in my land, I would have fought to prevent its production” he indicated.

Osagyefo Oseadeyo Dr Agyemang Badu || made this statement at a re-launch clean up exercise at the forecourt of the Atuoni Palace at Suma Ahenkro which was organized by the Omanhene and President of Suma Traditional Area, His Royal Majesty Odeneho Dr Afram Brempong ||| with the Omanhene and President of Wirenkyi T. A. Assin Kusha, in the Central Region, His Royal Majesty Ahunabobrim Prah Agyensem in attendance.
