Gov’t must consider going for emergency loan to construct Berekum – Sampa road – Dormaahene

The President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs and the Omanhene of the Dormaa Traditional Area Osagyefo Oseadeyo Dr Agyemang Badu || has urged the government to consider going for a loan to construct the Berekum – Drobo – Sampa stretch of road.

The President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs made this suggestion to the government through the Bono Regional Minister, Hon Justina Owusu-Banahene on Friday, August 4, 2023 at a durbar at Suma Ahenkro in the Jaman North district.

Speaking as the special guest at the program, Osagyefo Oseadeyo Dr Agyemang Badu || bemoaned the poor road network of the main Berekum – Drobo – Sampa stretch and called for the attention of government to take up the requisite steps to get the road constructed.

”One thing that destroys us in this country is the tag of being an NDC or an NPP but to me, politics is all about development.

Osagyefo Oseadeyo Dr Agyemang Badu ||, who was concerned about how the Berekum – Drobo – Sampa road, which is a major road in the Bono Region, has deteriorated into a deplorable state, urged the Akufo-Addo government to consider this road as a priority.

”How does the Seketia road looks like? I must admit that there are aspects of the roads that have been tarred and I commend the government for that but we will continue to press on the government to do more for us especially the Berekum – Drobo – Sampa road”.

According to the President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs, the Berekum – Drobo – Sampa road has been in the budget since former late President Rawlings and continues to appear in the budget statement of subsequent presidents including President Akufo-Addo but that road continues to deteriorate without any major works to get the road constructed.

”The Berekum – Drobo – Sampa road has been in government budget since Rawlings administration and continued to appear in all budget statements of all other presidents including Akufo-Addo government but we have seen the nature of this road which has never got constructed. Look at how bad the road has become? We use the road and we know the current state of it. I am appealing to the Bono Regional Minister, though she is not here with us, to the government, to consider an urgent step to go for a loan to construct this major road for us” he stated.

Osagyefo Oseadeyo Dr Agyemang Badu || added that citizens know those who embezzle state resources for their personal benefits when they are voted into power and called on the public to demand for development of their communities.
