Ashanti Region Students Left Stranded and Stressed as Vice President’s Campaign Tour Disrupts WASSCE Exam Preparation

Some students at the secondary level in Ashanti region are not happy with the way and manner they are being abused by the powers that be in the last seven (7) days since the Vice President started his campaign tour in the Ashanti region.

The students claim, eight buses (8) have been hired for them and all that happens since the Vice President started his tour of the Ashanti region is that early morning, the bus comes to their various schools and pick them and are dispersed late in the evening with each receiving Ghc200. The students claim they are not happy with this turn of events as they are not of voting age and so must not be exposed to the vagaries of politics.

According to the students, some of them are starting their West Africa Senior Secondary certificate Examination on the 31st of July,2023 and being made to stay out of campus to follow the Vice President is not a good decision for their future.According to them, the kind of pressure brought to bear on them makes it difficult for any one selected to skip the trip. The school authorities are under pressure to provide the numbers to shore up the Vice President’s numbers at the various constituencies and are provided with T-shirts with the embossment of the Vice President and are made to sing and shout “It is Possible from morning till evening”.

The students decided to speak out Yesternight when after being taking to the Ejisu constituency, their usual per diem was denied them and they became stranded not knowing how to get to their various campuses.

Meanwhile some parents in the Ashanti region have bemoaned this practice of the Vice President and have therefore called for an investigation into the matter.
