Former President John Dramani Mahama has made a statement to commemorate Ghana’s Republic Day celebration on July 1, 2023.
In his statement, he emphasised the importance of the principles of “Freedom and Justice” that are represented on Ghana’s Coat of Arms.
He stated that these principles should not just be empty symbols but should serve as a moral compass and a guiding light for every Ghanaian.
Mahama envisioned a Ghana where freedom and justice are not mere words but powerful forces that shape the country’s future. He expressed a desire for a Ghana where every individual, regardless of their background or circumstances, is protected and provided for.
He also emphasised the importance of having trustworthy institutions and courts that defend constitutional rights and deliver impartial justice.
Furthermore, Mahama highlighted the need for a Ghana where speaking out against injustice is not considered a crime but rather encouraged and supported.
He called on Ghanaians to renew their commitment to building a flourishing nation that embodies the shared values and ideals symbolized by the bold colours of the national flag.
