We will treat Dr Peter Appiahene as an NPP communicator wherever we meet him – Eric Adjei on Appiahene’s appointment to the EC

The vociferous Deputy Regional Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Bono Region, Eric Adjei has stated clearly that the NDC will never cooperate with Dr Peter Appiahene as a member of the Electoral Commission of Ghana.

Eric Adjei revealed this on a local base radio station, Ark 107.1 Fm in Sunyani on Sunday, 2nd April, 2023 on their evening political program dubbed ”Issues on Ark 107.1”.

The Deputy Regional Communications Officer was commenting on the appointment and swearing in of Dr Peter Appiahene as a member of the Electoral Commission of Ghana.

When asked by the host, Kwasi Kyei Baffour on how he received the news of the swearing in of Dr Peter Appiahene as a member of the Electoral Commission, Eric Adjei without any delay, expressed shocked at the news and described his appointment as ”unthinkable” and made further revelations about Dr Peter Appiahene.

”You, Kwasi Kyei Baffour as the host, during the NPP Bono Regional Delegates’ Conference in Sunyani, it was this same Dr Peter Appiahene who was in charge of accreditation and gave you an accreditation to cover their regional elections that day: how then do you ask me for clarity on Appiahene as a member of the NPP Regional Communication team on a false claim that Appiahene is not a member of the NPP communication team as erroneously peddled by their current Regional Communication Director”.

Eric Adjei added that ”Appiahene is a friend and we have been on several political programs here in Sunyani and that such a person cannot be trusted to play an important role as a neutral mind in discharging his duty at the Electoral Commission.

”Appiahene is a friend and if he continues to be at the EC, we will treat him as an NPP communicator wherever we meet him and that we will not cooperate with him. Even if we meet him at the mission house, we will treat him as an NPP communicator. We will never cooperate with him ” he vehemently stated.

President Akufo-Addo on Monday, 20th March, 2023 sworn into office three newly appointed persons as members of the Electoral Commission of Ghana. They are Reverend Akua Ofori Boateng, Salima Armed Tijani and Dr Peter Appiahene.

The swearing in of Dr Peter Appiahene as one of the newly appointed members of the Electoral Commission has been met with several criticism from sections of the public, some political parties and other election groups who have come out with several video evidences to prove that Dr Peter Appiahene is an active NPP activist who cannot be accepted to play such vital neutral role as expected of members of the Electoral Commission.

The Regional Communications Office of the National Democratic Congress in the Bono Region, has provided several video evidences and other statements to thoroughly profiled Dr Peter Appiahene as an active Regional Communications Team Member of the NPP in the Bono Region under the immediate past NPP Bono Regional Communications Director, Asare Bediako Seth, a patron of the NPP students wing, TESCON at the University of Energy and Natural Resources in Sunyani and the Regional IT Director of the NPP for the Bono Region in the 2020 General elections.
