Parliament Chase GNPC boss for dubious traveling allowances

The parliamentary select committee on mines and energy is on the throat of the acting CEO of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, Mr.Opoku Ahwene Danquah for expensive travels from the corporation’s coffers.

He is gradually emptying the coffers of the corporation in almost a year of his appointment which has never happened in the history of GNPC.

The CEO has stayed outside the country more than half of his one year as CEO in office. It is estimated that , Mr.Ahene Danquah spends over ghc 300,000 on every trip with a US$ 1,700 as an allowance per day on international trips.

This ostentatious life style has put GNPC in cash trap making it difficult to even pay contracts due for payment by various contractors working for the corporation.

Parliament upon a hint by Energy sector institutions report has requested for the CEO to furnish the house with all international travels made since assumption of office.
