The National Mosque committee on Saturday, the 18th of March launched a fundraising event to raise funds towards the construction of a mortuary which saw Hon Ben Abdallah, Executive Director of the Zongo Development Fund and also chairman of the Hajj Board who represented the Vice-President donating towards the project on behalf of the Vice-President. This came as a surprise to many present leading to murmuring all over with many asking why the U- turn by Dr Bawumia.

Others could be heard saying he should eat humble pie and apologize to the Imams, chiefs and the former President for engaging in cheap politics prior to the elections if he has made such a u-turn.

Already there are other Muslim communities in Ghana putting up mortuaries attached to their mosque so corpses would be treated with respect and according to Islamic tradition. Former Stanbic bank boss, Chief Alhassan Andani and the National chief Imam were all present at the function.
