Val’s Day: Sky Fm, listeners put smiles on the faces of 50 orphans

Sky FM brought smiles on the faces of the 50 inmates at the Mumslove Care Foundation Orphanage and Rehabilitation Center at Duayaw-Nkwanta in the Tano North Municipality of the Ahafo Region on Tuesday, as the world marks this year’s Valentine’s day.

As part of its corporate social responsibility to give back to society, the FM station, first to be established in the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions, feted the inmates and supplied them with toiletries, detergents, second-hand clothing, and varieties of beverages for their upkeep.

With support from its cherished listeners, the radio station under its “Sky FM Valentine Reachout” programme also donated bags of cement to support some ongoing development projects at the orphanage and added undisclosed sums of money to fend for the marginalized children.

Mr Kwesi Agyei, the General Manager of Sky FM told the highly excited inmates and staff of the home, the presentation was to support them in their proper upbringing and development, saying “we all have the collective responsibility to ensure that you grow to become national assets, but not liabilities”

He expressed appreciation to the station’s listeners for their collective contributions and expressed optimism that the orphanage would use the items for the intended purposes.

Mr Agyei said the station cherished its listeners, and asked them to remain loyal as Sky FM designed excellent social programmes that would not only entertain, but also educate and help the listeners make informed decisions and choices in social life.

Mr Imoro Adams, the Founder and the Director of the center thanked the station for the gesture and appealed for more support for the upkeep of the inmates.

He said the orphanage needed more funds to complete some ongoing development projects, and appealed to philanthropic organisations and individuals as well as corporate and religious bodies to come to their aid.

Mumslove Care Foundation Orphanage and Rehabilitation Center was legally registered in 2007.
