Kwabena Agyepong responds to ‘big lie’ against Bawumia

New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful Kwabena Agyei Agyepong has described as a “big lie” comments attributed to him to have been made about the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

“My initial reaction was not to dignify this LIE with a response,” he stated in a post over the weekend.

“However, the decision to address this matter and put it to rest before it starts festering, is informed by lessons learnt from what I experienced during the run up to my illegitimate removal as General Secretary of the NPP.”

The once-suspended NPP General Secretary is alleged to have taken a dig at the Vice President, pointing accusing fingers at him for his supension in 2015. He is said to have called the Vice President “jealous” and “morally corrupt” for suspecting that he will rather succeed Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

He is alleged to have uttered this on his campaign trail.

But the former Presidential Spokesperson said he hardly even refers to his fellow aspirants in his campaigns as the “only times I have made reference to my fellow aspirants in the NPP, is to encourage them to also put out their vision and humbly submit themselves for public scrutiny in addition to calling for a live debate amongst all those aspiring to lead the NPP – this will enable the electorate get a feel of what each aspirant has to offer MOTHER GHANA”.

He said the same modus operandi was used by the shenanigans to oust him from his role as the General Secretary of the NPP prior to the 2016 elections.

“More of the same won’t work for the NPP in 2024. Therefore, I would like to assure those behind this vile propaganda against me that what worked for them when I was General Secretary won’t work for them in my forward march to become the NPP Presidential Candidate for election 2024 because people now know the TRUTH and will not allow themselves to be hoodwinked by such lies.”

He urged Ghanaians to disregard the reports and rather focus on his ‘New Dawn’ for the country.

“If the intention of those who put out THE BIG LIE is to distract me from my vision of a NEW DAWN, then they should find a new strategy because this outmoded and discredited one won’t work.”
