H.E John Mahama, at middle hours of Friday, 10th February 2023, stormed Damongo to attend the 3rd Day funeral rites of the king of Gonjas Yagbonwura Prof. Sulemana Tuntumba Boresa.
Under the leadership of the Savannah Regional Chairman of NDC, Alhaji Imoro Seidu, and his executives, he was accompanied by several dignitaries of the party.
They are: the immediate past minority leader/ MP for Tamale South, Hon Haruna Iddrisu, the Former NDC GEN Sec Hudu Yahaya, and National Vice Chairman chief Sofo Azorka. The rest are; former MPs for Damongo Hon Mutawakilu and Hon Sammy Wusah, Former MP for Salaga North Alhaji Alhassan Mumumi, the N/R NDC Chairman Hon Adolf Ali and his executives were all present. The former Bank of Ghana governor Dr Nashiru and CEO of Engineers and Planners Mr Ibrahim Mahama were present as well.
At the durbar ground an enthusiastic crowd comprising party members, nursing students and members of the public, threw all funeral protocol to the wind and mobbed the former President the moment he stepped out of his vehicle to take his seat for the commencement of the aduah ceremony.
He first paid compliment to the regent of the late king and proceeded to exchange pleasantries with the caretaker Sonyowura and the sub-chiefs present.
The incoming President indicated that as a royal from Bole, it’s his responsibility to participate fully in the preparation towards the 7th Day Aduah; hence he donated a bull, drinking water, 20 bags of rice, 2 bags of maize, 2 bags of cassava and undisclosed amount of cash to the regent, the 3 widows, the MankpanWura and the caretaker Sonya-Wura.
The former President shall be coming back for the 7th Day funeral ceremony.
