The Assembly member for Kotokrom, a community in the Sunyani Municipality, Hon. Dramani Mahama has disclosed that, speed ramps will be constructed on the New-Dormaa-Kotokrom-Yawhima stretch to reduce dust emanating from the road, as pupils of Kotokrom Municipal Assembly (M.A) A and B basic schools go back to their classrooms.
The pupils were forced to abandon their classrooms due to fear of contracting lung and heart diseases as a result of dust emanating from the road.
Speaking on Suncity Morning Drive, Mr. Mahama, revealed that the road will be watered frequently and also have speed ramps constructed on it to prevent motorists from over speeding, following the intervention of the Regional Minister, Justina Owusu Banahene and MCE for Sunyani East, Ansu Kumi.
This he said, will help reduce the impact of the dust on the pupils as well as residents who live along the stretch.
Meanwhile, parents have been urged to provide nose marks for their wards as they return to school.
Residents, commuters and drivers who ply the road have complained severally about the slow pace of work on the road and have made several calls on the government to facilitate for speedy completion of the road.
However as to when the road will be fully completed is not known.
