Prosecute Public Officials Even When On Retirement – Amoako Atta

The minister for roads and highways who doubles as a member on Public Accounts Committee of Parliament, Mr Kwasi Amoako-Atta has sounded a word of caution to all public servants and political office holders to work as the laws of the land mandates them instead of using dubious means to steal from the state.

He explained that, many workers within the public service political office holders, more especially those who are about to go on retirement tries to take undue advantage of system and steal from the state with the view that, he or she can manipulate the system and go on retirement unpunished.

The roads minister made it clear that, such thoughts are just a dream because crimes has not expiring date and it is about time to constitute laws that would force people who have stollen from the state and are on retirement be made to face the law and also be prosecuted to serve as deterrent to others so as to reduce the high rate of theft in the system.

Mr Amoako-Atta made these comments today at the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) where the fisheriesĥ commission appeared to answer some infractions sighted against them in the 2020 Auditor General’s report.
