President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has pleaded with the Anglican Church to bear him and the nation up in prayers.
He explained that often as a Christian, one may be tempted to allow struggles to define them but with prayers victory is guaranteed.
The President made the prayer on Tuesday, January 10 when the Anglican Church led the 2nd Presidential Eucharistic New Year Service at the Jubilee House.
The maiden service was held last year with President Akufo-Addo promising two more before he exits government.
Addressing the Service, the President expressed confidence in Ghana’s bright future, insisting the country’s best days lie ahead of it.
“Let me reiterate my confidence that with with the spirit of fairness, hardwork, integrity and reconciliation, the best days of mother Ghana lie ahead of us.
“Even though we are presently confronted with difficulties in our economic performance, I do not doubt our collective resolve – as I said on 6th January – to work our way from these challenges and put our nation back onto the path of progress and prosperity.”
It is in this confidence that President Akufo-Addo asked for prayers from the Anglican Church.
“Let me in conclusion plead strongly with the church to bear the nation and me continually up in prayers. As God’s children we may be tempted to allow struggles to define our worth, however, our ultimate victory is guaranteed. We may stumble along the way but we will always – as Romans 8 says – be more than conquerors.”
The President also used the opportunity to congratulate the nation once again on the 30th anniversary of constitutional rule in the Fourth Republic.
