NDC doesn’t need a congress to choose its 2024 flagbearer – Group backs Mahama

President of the PRO-FORUM, a pro-NDC group made up of professionals, Ambassador Sam Pee Yalley has said it would be prudent for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to come into a consensus and announce John Dramani Mahama as the 2024 flagbearer.

He believes the former president is currently the most marketable and the best choice to secure victory for the NDC.

“There is no need for any congress to elect a flagbearer for the NDC,” he told William Evans-Nkum in an interview.

“The deafening cheers from the thousands of delegates for John Mahama at the just ended congress was enough to declare him the next flagbearer of our party.”

The former Ghana’s High Commissioner to India stressed: “We the members of Pro-Forum support a declaration that John Dramani Mahama is the flagbearer of NDC; there is nothing undemocratic about this.

“In fact, democracy also allows consensus,” he pointed out.

The NDC Professionals Forum (NDC-PROFORUM) is an incorporated center left professionals and civil society organisation that serves as a vehicle for mobilising various categories of top-notch professionals in Ghana and in the Diaspora to support the party.

The NDC Proforum was incorporated as a company limited by guarantee on Tuesday, March 6, 2018.

During the 10th National Delegates Congress of the NDC at the Accra Sports Stadium, the group was officially recognised as an affiliate of the party.
