Embattled Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya Constituency Sarah Adwoa Safo has opened up on her experiences last year, disclosing that it was a very difficult one for her and her family.
She, however, expressed gratitude to God because “He pulled us through it”.
“Last year was a very challenging year for myself, my husband and my children but He pulled us through it,” she stated on Sunday, November 6, when she joined the Ebenezer Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana at Dome-CFC to worship.
She expressed thanks to the almighty God for seeing her through the challenges of 2021.
Another controversy was sparked when Adwoa Safo was said to have been impersonated prior to the approval of the 2022 budget
Sarah Adwoa Safo had been out of Ghana for more than a year, sparking a debate in Parliament for her seat to be declared vacant.
Her case, together with that of two other Members (MPs) – Kennedy Ohene Agyapong and Henry Quartey – was referred to the Privileges Committee for hearing.
The former Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection failed to make an appearance before the Committee, not even via the virtual means proposed to her.
The Majority in Parliament, then, began advocacy for her seat to be declared vacant while the Minority opposed this, calling for her side to be heard.
According to some Majority MPs, her absence was deliberate and orchestrated to frustrate government business in the House owing to the near-equal numbers in Parliament.
Mr Ohene Agyapong had disclosed in an interview earlier in the year that GH¢120,000 was sent to her from the Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, for her to resume parliamentary duties.

On Wednesday, October 26, a day after resumption of the Eighth Parliament, Speaker Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin ruled that the report from the Privileges Committee be debated by plenary for a final determination of the matter.
He had deferred ruling on same during the last sitting.
Adwoa Safo is expected to make an appearance on Parliament on Tuesday, November 8.
