Eric Adjei Replies Abronye On The Mps Project

I am tempted to put these facts here due to the attitude of a misguided and petty-minded supposed Regional Chairman of a political party who has lost focus and always try to throw dust in the eyes of well-meaning Ghanaians with his foggy write-ups.

Abronye should know that, public-private partnerships involve collaboration between a government agency and a private-sector company that can be used to finance, build, and operate projects, such as public transportation networks, parks, and convention centers.

In 2015, the Board and Management of Ghana Ports and Harbors Authority took the decision to build another terminal at Tema harbour. Two projects were advertised. One for the construction of the terminal and the other for the operations once the terminal was completed. In all, Over 56 entities expressed interest of which 20 were shortlisted. Also, 15 bids were received for the operation of the new terminal with APMT and Bollare’ registering their interest as separate entities for the Terminal Operations.

It is unwise for somebody like Abronye to assume that President Mahama sold Ghana’s port to Bollare. In December 20, 2019, the Danquah Institute threatened that In the event that the parties involved are unable to agree new terms within 60 days, the Danquah Institute will take legal action in the public interest. What has been the fate of this grandiose talk.

If Abronye want to know a president that has been so wicked to Ghanaians, then he should look no further than within his party. Akuffo Addo is the first president that has mortgaged the future of Ghanaian students in exchange of a loan that has been spent already. Akuffo Addo has mortgaged GETfund for 15 years, meaning all contributions Ghanian pay for GETfund will only go towards paying loans and not anything else. Something Iddi Amin would not have done.

The Energy Sector Levy which was introduced by Mahama to defray the debt of the energy sector was supposed to last for 5 years but today, the visionless Akuffo Addo has extended it between 20-30 years. Meaning our unborn children will grow up to pay this tax which they will never see it’s benefit but to defray a debt accrued by Akuffo Addo.
