[Photos] Over 200 illegal miners including foreigners picked up from Atewa forest

Over 200 illegal miners – most of whom are foreigners – have been arrested at illegal mining sites around Anyinam and Akyem-Techiman in the Eastern Region.

This followed a swoop by a joint-security operation team inside the Atewa Forest in the Region.

The miners were operating at different sites in the forest reserve.

They were escorted to Accra and paraded at the El Wak Stadium.

Among the arrested are nationals of Togo, Burkina Faso and Nigeria.
