2024 election is the 2nd independence of the Republic of Ghana – Otukonor

Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC, Peter Boamah Otukonor has indicated that the 2024 general election is the second independence of the Republic of Ghana.

According to him, the Akufo-Addo-led government has eroded Kwame Nkruma’s independence.

“NPP has eroded Kwame Nkrumah’s independence. We are all under slavery. Akufo-Addo, Ken Ofori Attah and their family have enslaved us. Ghanaians are working for the government to chop the money. So if you and I who the platform did not fight where the ordinary Ghanaian would stand”. Otukonor stated on Oyerepa Breakfast time hosted by Kwesi-Parker Wilson.

The deputy general secretary however sent a strong warning to NPP to avoid any attempt to rig the 2024 elections as they did in 2020.

He said that they (NDC) will resist any attempt by the NPP to rig the elections.

“In 2024 there is no way the NPP can execute their plans to rig the elections unless they want to destabilise this country. Because nobody, not me Otukonor nor my NDC member will sit aloof for them to do it as they did in 2020. They kill 8 people in 2020 but 2024 unless they kill us all. They have done it for the first and second times but it will not happen for the third time…no way”. Peter Otukonor warned.

He asserted the country’s forefathers would be disappointed if they allow the NPP government to rule Ghana this way.

“If we site unconcern for the NPP government to use violence, and corruption to rule this country then we have failed our ancestors, Kwame Nkrumah, Nana Yaa Asantewaa and others who fought for Ghana. We can’t fail them because they fought with their lives. So we will not allow that.” The NDC deputy scribe said.
