Okada And Trotro Drivers Give 5 Solid Reasons Why Ghanaians Must Vote For Mahama Again

A coalition of Okada Riders Association, Trotro drivers and Spare Parts Dealers Association Of Ghana on Thursday, 23rd June, 2022 held a joint press conference explaining 5 reasons why Ghanaians must reconsider and vote for Ex President Mahama again.

According to the coalition, the three joint associations provides the largest employment to the Ghanaian populace and literally contribute to a bigger percentage of Ghanaian voters.

Okada riders, Trotro drivers and Spare Parts Dealers without any doubt played a big role in bringing the New Patriotic Party to power after huge promises to them. Despite they campaigning and voting massively for the New Patriotic Party, they believe that Government has lied to them.

To them conditions under Ex President Mahama were far better than under NPP. Because of the following reasons, they strongly believe that Former President Mahama should be brought back to power.

INCREASED FUEL PRICES

The association claims they only brought NPP to power because His Excellency Nana Akufo Addo promised to reduce fuel prices drastically when they come to power. At that time when they thought Mahama was the worse, NPP was voted for.

However, the situation has been worse since coming to power. Unlike under Former President Mahama where they were able to maximize profit, the frequent increase in fuel prices is making them work for nothing and collapsing their business.

Under President Akuffo Addo, they barely make money to take care of their families.

BAD ROADS NETWORK IN GHANA UNDER AKUFFO ADDO

” It is never in doubt that Ghana has huge infrastructure deficit to deal with as a developing country. To this effect the previous government under John Dramani Mahama set up the Ghana infrastructure fund among others special initiatives target at improving Ghana’s infrastructure situation especially within the road sector ” the condition said in it’s press conference.

Despite Ex President John Dramani Mahama making efforts to construct roads to decrease deficit, NPP has literally added nothing to Ghana’s road network. They explained that previous NDC administration went to the extent of instituting the road fund. It is however said that the few roads that were constructed under NDC have also been left to spoil.

EXPENSIVE COST OF SPARE PARTS AND VEHICLE

On the part of spare parts dealers, ” the mismanagement of the economy by the incompetent Economic Management Team led by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has rendered the Ghanaian Cedi very vulnerable leading to high levels of depreciation of the currency. The cascading effects of this depreciation is unfavorable exchange rates effecting the capital base of vehicle and spare parts dealers.

Price of spare parts have increased abnormally under NPP which was clearly not the case under John Dramani Mahama. If there is someone to be blamed, it will be no other person than Nana Akuffo Addo and Bawumia who mismanaged the Economy. According to them, Nana Addo’s tensure is over and definitely Bawumia will lead the NPP. It’s therefore better to bring John Dramani Mahama they know rather a Bawumia who lied to them.

PRICE OF MOTOR BIKES

Okada riders revealed that under Former President John Dramani Mahama, a single motor bike was purchased at ¢4,000. It is heartbreaking to announce to ladies and gentlemen present that the price of same motor bike has tripled and isnnow sold ¢10,000. Most members their association had to keep recording loses or just drop out the business because of this. People who had decent jobs under John Dramani Mahama are now unemployment.

“Sadly however, the cost of motor bikes keep increasing at an increasing rate. A motor bike that used sell for GH¢4, 000 is now been sold at GH¢10, 000. And just like the vehicle spare parts, motorbikes spare parts have equally skyrocketed affecting the sales and servicing of the bikes which are all working against the Okada business today”

NPP NOT A LISTENING GOVERNMENT

Despite all the above listed problems, they have written memos, petition, gone on demonstration and use all means to make their problems known to the President. Unfortunately all their pleas have fallen on deaf ears. His Excellency President Nana Akuffo Addo has simply refused to listen to them and only takes decision based on what he thinks without considering their concerns. Mahama they thought was a dead goat but Akuffo Addo is worse off.

DEMONSTRATION ON 28TH JUNE

The coalition hinted that because of the above reasons, a big demonstration is going to hit the street of Ghana on 28th and 29th June. The demonstration dubbed arise Ghana will put pressure on Government and demand that every bit of promise made by His Excellency Nana Akuffo Addo and the NPP is fulfilled. The notwithstanding, they will use the opportunity to warn NPP that their days are numbered.

CONCLUSION

To sum it all up, they believe Former President John Dramani Mahama is the best choice for Ghana come 2024. A vote for Bawumia is the worst mistake that Ghana cannot afford to make.
