The government has agreed to pay CLOGSAG a Neutrality Allowance

The government has agreed to pay members of the Ghana Civil and Local Government Staff Association the Neutrality Allowance (CLOGSAG).

The government, on the other hand, wants the name “Neutrality Allowance” changed.

“Both parties government and CLOGSAG have shown a very good faith as far as this is concerned,” said Dr Nana Ato Arthur, Head of Local Government Services, in an interview with TV3’s Daniel Opoku on Monday, April 25. The government was very open…

“…We’re pleading with you, CLOGSAG; we can only give you the allowance that we say we’ll give you, regardless of the terminology we use.” Because, as a government, we don’t agree with that terminology or nomenclature today.

“So let us put together a team to figure out what it will be called; however, that allowance will be given to you beginning in the fourth quarter of the year, in October.”

“On Friday last week, CLOGSAG accepted the offer.”

On Thursday, April 21, CLOGSAG members began an indefinite strike over the nonpayment of the neutrality allowance.

Despite official reminders and follow-ups to the Ministry of Finance, CLOGSAG claimed that payment of the Neutrality Allowance they demanded had not been made as agreed.
