The President of the Ghana School of Law SRC has been arrested on suspicion of financial impropriety

The Ghana School of Law’s Students’ Representative Council has expelled its president, Wonder Victor Kutor, for alleged financial impropriety.

The school’s SRC President had been accused, among other things, of purchasing a car for the SRC from his company and another for his personal use under dubious circumstances.

Mr. Wonderful Victor Kutor is also accused of operating an SRC-owned Mobile Money business under his company name and diverting profits to his personal use.

The SRC Executive Council questioned the president, but they were unconvinced by his responses. As a result, they formed a committee to look into the matter.

Since then, the embattled SRC president has denied the allegations.

He admitted that the SRC paid $62,000 for a used Toyota Corolla from a company he used to own solely.

However, he stated that he had declared his affiliation with the company and that, while he had appointed the people on the procurement team, “we expect fairness.”

“I am not on the SRC procurement committee.” “I am not a member of the committee,” he added.

Mr. Kutor denied running an SRC-owned Mobile Money business under his company name and diverting profits for his own personal use, claiming that all he did was donate his merchant SIM to the endeavor.

In a statement, the Executive Committee of the SRC investigating the allegations stated that the interdiction is based on a prima facie case it has established against Wonder Victor Kutor.

“Pursuant to the concurrent resolutions of the SRC’s Executive Council dated 17th April 2022 and of the Congress dated 15th April 2022 interdicting the SRC President, Mr. Wonder Victor Kutor, pending investigation by an independent ad hoc Committees set up, this is to formally state for the attention and action of the underlisted that Mr. Wonder Kutor is hereby interdicted in accordance with Article 34(d) and (e) of the SRC

“The interdiction is based on, among other things, a prima facie case established during Mr. Wonder Kutor’s questioning before the Executive Council on April 7th, 2022, and subsequent admissions in a radio interview on Citi FM on April 12th, 2022, which acts bring the SRC into disrepute.”

The Executive Council also stated that, in accordance with Article 20(4) of the SRC Constitution, it has appointed Mr. Yoofi Impraim, Vice President of the Greenhill campus, as interim President until the Investigation Committee’s findings are completed.

“As a result, Mr. Kutor is not to be recognized or dealt with as SRC President in the interim.” “If the Committee’s findings require it, the SRC Executive Council shall subsequently communicate the end of the interdiction in writing,” it added.
