Michael Okyere Barfi, the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, has hinted that the government may set up a committee to draft legislation to regulate the cement production industry.
He explained that this will assist streamline operations while also reinforcing the building industry’s demand for standards.
At the opening of a cooperative cooperation with Kumasi Technical Universities’ Institute of Research, Innovation, and Development and CIMAF Ghana Limited, Mr Okyere Baafi, who is also an MP for New Juaben, said.

The initiative aims to provide formal training and certification to 1,400 artisans who have been chosen from around the country to supplement their previous informal training.
CIMAF Ghana’s Technical Director, Berzouki Abdelkarim, stated that the organization will not stop working to improve artisan skills in the construction industry.
He explained that, as a corporation whose main goal is to see Africa flourish in all aspects of development, it cannot afford to miss out on the government of Ghana’s Skills Development Agenda via its TVET program.

Mr. Joseph Kobina Aboo, Director of Sales and Marketing at CIMAF Ghana, further explained the initiative’s goal, saying that without skill development, artisans, who are primarily end users, may not be able to fully benefit from the various grades of cement available for a better construction industry.
As a result, he strongly encourages the recipients to take advantage of the training opportunity.
