Trader burnt to ashes in Sunyani

A man believed to be in 50s identified as Kwadwo Bene has reportedly died from inferno that engulfed a wooden structure he abodes while asleep.

Residents who spoke to Ark FM’s reporter Kwadwo Oppong Kyekyeku revealed, attempts to save the victim was unsuccessful as the fire ravaged on.

The charred body of Bene, a trader by profession was discovered by the personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) on Thursday morning at Area ‘4’ in the Sunyani municipality of the Bono region.

The cause of the fire is unknown as firefighters are yet to launch investigations.

However, residents suspect the deceased lighted a mosquito coil which might have caused the fire while asleep.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue at the time of filing this report.

In a related development, fire also destroyed shops near University of Energy and Natural Resources (UNER) where several properties worth millions of Ghana cedis.
