Abronye in Police grip after ambush at press conference by angry youth of Dormaa

The Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party in the Bono Region is reported to be in the grip of the joint Military and Police forces.

On Friday, January 14, 2022 at about 10:00am when the Regional Chairman of the NPP Kwame Baffoe Abronye was set to address a press conference at the Regent Resort Hotel on the Sunyani – Abesim – Kumasi Road, a deluge of young people, perpurted to be angry youth of Dormaa, thronged at the venue to sack Kwame Baffoe from carrying out with his press conference.

Kwame Baffoe Abronye, earlier on, through a poster publication on the various social media pages, had indicated to a series of media houses of his intention to respond to the statements by the Dormaahene who happens to be the President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs.

On Friday, December 10, 2021 some residents of the Sunyani municipality in the Bono Region staged a historical demonstration exercise, over what they call neglect of the area by successive governments and the abandoning of some developmental projects. The demonstration was organised by the Sunyani Youth Development Association.

The Dormaahene, who is also the President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs recently called on the Akufo-Addo government not to abandon the various projects that were initiated by the Mahama administration.

The Dormaahene expressed worry about the failure by the Akufo-Addo government to operationalise the Sunyani Airport as scheduled.

Kwame Baffoe Abronye, who had indicated to respond to these statements by the Dormaahene intended to do so at the Regent Resort Hotel, which is located in Abesim – that falls under the Dormaa stool land.

The youth, who angrily sacked Abronye from the venue said that they will not allow Abronye to organize a press conference at a venue that falls under the Dormaa stool land to run down their respected King.

Kwame Baffoe Abronye, who looked helpless had to move his program to Hempong Hotel at Berling Top, which is located within the Sunyani West Constituency amidst a heavy security guards.

The angry group, who were not happy with the security personnel followed them to the new venue and demanded that the security releases Kwame Baffoe Abronye to them to ”teach him some lesson” after the press conference at Hempong Hotel. The heavily joint military and police forces had to immediately hook up Kwame Baffoe Abronye into their vehicle to prevent him from being attacked by the numerous angry group who have gathered at the entrance of the hotel.
