A non-governmental organization in the Techiman Municipality of the Bono East Region, Center for Posterity Interest Organization (COPIO) is calling for the review of what it describes as cumbersome SIM re-registration process.
Chief Executive Officer of COPIO, Mr. Mustapha Maison Yeboah said it is inappropriate to have a crowd gathered at the various offices of Telcos amid covid-19 pandemic.
Whiles commending Government, Ministry of Communications and the National Identification Authority for such an important program, Mr. Mustapha wants the process to be looked at.
He said the SIM re-registration will reduce frauding activities in the system and restore sanity.
He described as pathetic struggles the aged go through to have the process done.
Mr. Mustapha added that the challenges associated with the exercise have killed the interest of most Ghanaians particularly those living in remote and deprived communities.
Mr. Mustapha M. Yeboah further called on Government to liaise with the National Identification Authority and Telecommunication Companies to devise pragmatic strategies to avert the situation in order not to deprive majority of Ghanaians from having their SIMs registered.
