The people of Yawhimakrom in the Sunyani East Municipality led by their Chief, Nana Ansu Ababio are calling on the Member of Parliament (MP) Lawyer Kwasi Ameyaw Kyeremeh to commission an abandoned completed toilet facility in the area for use.
This they believe will put an end to open defecation.
According to the aggrieved Chief, the residents are still defecating in open places while a newly constructed toilet facility is sitting idle awaiting commission by the MP.
“Our humble appeal to MP and the Municipal Assembly is that they should come and open the toilet for us to use it. …We know the MP it was funded from the MP’s Common fund because of us so we don’t still understand why we have to attend nature call in bush while the place is ready for use”, Nana Ansu Ababio pleaded in an interview with Ark news.
The traditional ruler also bemoaned the poor nature of the road networks in the area which is still under construction calling the contractor working on the project speed up work.
“We know the Kotokrom-Yawhima- New Dormaa road is under construction but we are also appealing to the contractor not to break for any reason. The road is too dusty and watering is what we are looking for”, Nana Ansu Ababio told Oppong Kyekyeku.
Meanwhile, a health Expert is warning people living in dusty environment to be mindful of their health since they can contract respiratory diseases if they continue to inhale dust for a longer time.
