Award-winning investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni has wondered why the Board Chairman of the Ghana Airport Company Paul Adom-Otchere was involved in the procurement of Christmas decorations after he( Mr Adom-Otchere) admitted to procuring the decorations for the airports as part of celebrating last year’s Christmas.
Mr Adom-Otchere who had been accused of splurging on the Christmas decorations, refuted the allegations as propaganda while admitting that indeed the expenditure alleged is true.
Following this admission, Mr Azure Awuni whom Mr Adom-Otchere has consistently chastised, reacted to the trending story saying that his response is because the resources of state are involved.
“Someone sent me these leaked documents about the procurement of Christmas decorations by the Ghana Airport Company. I have also read on 3News.com that houseboy has responded to what he calls “propaganda.” He has also confirmed the GHc84,000 expenditure. The first thing that caught my attention was the bill addressed to Board Chair. What business has the chairman of a board got to do with the procurement of Christmas lights? Why would the company do that?
We won’t respond to the weekly touch screen childish jokes inspired by Jospognic demons, but when it has to do with how state resources are managed, we should all be interested, shouldn’t we?” Manasseh Azure Awuni wrote.
He added that he expects that Mr Adom-Otchere would make clear why a whopping GHc 84, 000 was expended on the decorations.
“And it’s only fair that we expect a touch screen analysis of what exactly this 84,000 cedis was used for. The services of the first company were named in houseboy’s response, but he only said, “The other inspirations were provided by Favors and Arts for a total cost of GHC 84,000.” We should also be told why the company named the board chairman in the bill,” he added.
Meanwhile opinions are divided on the appropriateness or otherwise of the expenditure on the Christmas decorations.
