Employment Minister in tears as he recounts various incidences in 2021

The Member of Parliament for Sunyani West has described the 2021 year as a dreadful.

According to the MP and the Minister for Employment and Labour Relations, the past year was interwoven with numerous disasters.

Speaking to Collins Apraku on Service in the Morning on Monday, January 3, 2022, Mr Ignatius Baffour-Awuah hinted the rainstorm that dismantled the mast of his radio station which led to the death of a young lady was really heartbreaking and a big blow to him.

“On that fateful night (5th March) when the incident happened, I was at the presidency with my other colleague ministers to be sworn in. It was really tumultuous moment for me to the extent that I was absent minded when I saw the pictures of the lifeless body of the lady who was fractured by the fallen mast” he notes in a sober mood.

He further noted, “a subsequent rainstorm also ripped off the roofing of the buildings at the soccer academy rendering all the structures roofless. Though without any fatality, the cost was extremely huge”.

He further touched on the life threatening accident which he had with other four in September.

“We had just left one funeral at Odumase heading towards Nsuatrefor another one, then in a split of moment that catastrophic event happens. We only bless God for saving all of us from the cold arms of death. I’m really pleased for the solidarity that well wishers showed us” he observed.

In tears, he recounted the painful demise of his team administrator and coach through another fatal accident.

“It was all joy when Bafour Soccer Academy had qualified to the Division 1 league through the relentless effort of KwakuAdjei Richard and coach Mohammed Ibrahim Poloo and the others. But along the preparation for the league, they had to train in Accra which they met their tragic death on their way.

As we speak, some players and management members are even bedridden. It has really been tough” he noted.

He, however, expressed optimism for the year 2022.
