Few months ago, I expressed my candid opinion on why Hon. Akwasi Adu Gyan is a WRONG CHOICE for the position of Bono East Regional minister, and that attracted avalanche of insults from the clique
of Hon Adu Gyan.
I remained unfazed and moved on with my patroitic duties as “citizen but not spectator” and as we have it in our local parlance; bankye nny3 a, egya n’3b3kyere3(it is only fire that can expose a “bad” cassava).
I knew is just a matter time.
Prior to the president’s recent visit to the Bono East Region, Hon Kwasi Adu Gyan saw it as an opportune moment to siphon monies from the various assemblies under his jurisdiction at the time the president, through the chief of staff had directed every assembly to halt all forms of payment untill the new MMDCE’s are sworn into office.
Hon Adu Gyan coerced and compelled all the 11 co-ordinating directors in Bono East to dole out (14,000.00)
from the covers of each assembly, to him,(Hon Adu Gyan) to prepare for his EXCELLENCY the president’s visit and true to the minister’s word, the said monies were forcefully collected using his office as the head of the regional co-ordinating council(RCC). And what is more intriguing, was the extra expenditure incurred by
Techiman municipal, as the town hosting the president, totalling to over (14,000.00), the same amount already collected by the Hon. minister for same purpose.
Hon Adu Gyan bounced back at the assemblies again, this time, charging (6,000.00)from each of the president’s Nominees for the position of MCE or DCE, whether they will be confirmed or not. And then, extra amount of 4,000ghc. making (10,000.00) was collected from the assemblies in addition to the (14,000.00) earlier collected. Hon. Adu Gyan’s reason was the urgent need at the time, for him to embark on an operation he termed as “ways and means towards the president’s MDCE Nominees confirmation in Bono
East, which he was not going to use the police at the various districts under him, but was going to use his own policemen and what that “operation” meant, is up to the minister to demystify.
Despite the president’s directive at that time, for the assemblies to halt all forms of spending or payment, the Bono East Regional minister, managed to squeeze out these monies from the assemblies without written correspondence for future auditing.
This calls for serious investigations and I am positive that, his excellency the president, and the above offices copied, will do justice to the money issues to save Bono East.
Everyone in Bono East looks forward to a better and developed region and therefore, any proposal on the table tailored towards this agenda is wholeheartedly welcome.
But the (3) different committees inaugurated on the 12th June 2021 by Hon. Adu Gyan to facilitate its agenda for accelerated development for Bono East Region, is clouded with lots of questions that begs for answers, even its composition.
We don’t need cosmetic committees of-no-show, face-saving and highly questionable composition. Again, what kind of bread is Bono East expecting when the carpenter does the baking?
