The Bono Regional Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has cautioned the public against expired products likely to flood market ahead of Christmas.
The Regional Director, Madam Akua Amponsah Owusu made this observation when she spoke to Ark news. According to her, such products are mostly sold at reduced prices to attract customers. She said some retailers and importers sell unwholesome products to unsuspecting consumers during such festive seasons, which can be harmful to them.
Madam Akua Amponsah her outfit was working assiduously in the region to ensure the sale of fake products in grocery shops and other outlets including pharmaceutical and chemical shops are restrained.
The authority has, therefore, advised the public to always pay attention to food items, particularly the pre-packaged ones, on sale in the open market.
She added “When buying pre-packaged food products, you must always look out for the expiry or best-before date, which are typically the dates that guarantee the wholesomeness of the food products”.
She also debunked the grace period on expiry dates of goods assertion.
She then called on the public to observe all the covid-19 protocols religiously to control the spread.
