Sunyani Dev’t: “We don’t trust you”- Youth to Regional minister

A Sunyani based youth group that intend to hit the streets on Friday December 10, 2021 says they have high hopes in the traditional council to deliver their petition to the President than the Bono regional Minister.

Sunyani Youth for Development Association is set to embark on a demonstration dubbed “Sunyani Deserves better’’ in the capital on Friday 10th December, 2021 to register their displeasure on the slow pace of development in the city.

The group, among other things has raised concerns such as the construction of a new Stadium, the completion of the Sunyani Airport, the completion of the Centre for National Culture Auditorium and the completion of the Regional Library Complex.
Nana Akomeah Sakyi, secretary of the association speaking to Kwabena Obeng Akrofi, host of Ark in the morning show Wednesday December 8 observed that, the Sunyani traditional council had earlier held a press conference and petitioned the President through the regional minister but the latter failed to present it to the seat of government.
He challenged the minister to refute his claims if she deems it lies.

Meanwhile, the Police have requested the suspension of the demonstration until March 2022. A statement signed by the Sunyani Divisional Police Commander, ACP Thomas Tindow stated among other reasons that; “Lack of personnel to deploy on 10/12/21 because all personnel have been detailed to perform day and night patrols due to the Xmas and New year.”

The statement added that, “The expected participants in the intended “demo” has been pegged at one thousand aggrieved men high above the few standby MTTD personnel who are likely to dace traffic congestions on the said “D” day.”
But Nana Akomeah expressed disappointment in the Police’s stated reasons for the postponement of date. He emphasized that the demonstration would come off as plan. He called on all and sundry to come out in their numbers and join the demonstration. However, he admonished all who intend to join the demo not to wear any political paraphernalia.
