Hollard insurance signs three-year partnership deal with UENR

Hollard Insurance Ghana Limited has signed a three-year partnership agreement with University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) in the Bono Regional capital Sunyani. The deal which takes off on January 1, 2022 falls under the Hollard x Academia which is a corporate social investment initiative and is aimed at empowering society by enabling more people create and secure better futures. Speaking at a short ceremony of the official signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, Hollard Group CEO, Mrs. Patience Akyianu indicated that her outfit’s social impact is community focused and given that universities provides the highest form of education which contributes to development, it was prudent to engage tertiary students early enough to enable them succeed in future. According to her, the deal after its expiration is subjected to renewal. The Hollard x Academia consist of five modules; Hollard prize, Hollard Scholar Programme, Hollard Streetwise Finance Engagement, Hollard Corporate Experience and Thought-leadership Events.

Mr. Akyianu explained that one student from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics with the valedictorian prize will be awarded with citation, laptop and cash under the Hollard prize. Under the Hollard Scholar programme, one third-year and final-year student would be awarded with tuition grant each year. The Insurance company will under the Hollard streetwise finance engagement organize mentoring seminar, give research insight and offer entrepreneurial inputs to both staff and student once every year.

With the Hollard corporate experience, one student each selected by the University in its long vacation would be admitted by the insurance firm for internship programme and national service placement. Hollard Insurance Ghana Limited will under the though-leadership event organize an annual event at UENR featuring the outfit or related industry keynote. These modules the company believes will make students ready for job market and not depend on Government for employment.

Madam Patience was hopeful the mutually benefited deal would help contribute to the growth of both institutions. This initiative aside from UENR, will be rolled out in the Universities of Ghana and Cape Coast and Ghana Institute of Journalism.

The Vice Chancellor of University of Energy and Natural Resources, Professor Elvis Asare Bediako commended Hollard Insurance Ghana Limited for such an initiative which seeks to improve education in the country. He pledged the University’s support in ensuring a mutual benefit of the partnership.
