Lord Commey will be the first refugee should he dare in 2024 – Bilal

The Regional Youth Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress in the Bono East Region has served a swift warning to Lord Commey, the Former Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party and the current Director of Operations at the presidency.

In what seems to be a direct response to the comment by the Former National Organizer of the NPP, Mr Muazu Bilal, the Regional Youth Organizer of the NDC in the Bono East Region has indicated that Mr Lord Commey will be the first refugee should he dare to plunge the country into mayhem come 2024.

In a Press release on Sunday, October 17, Mr Muazu Bilal grossly condemned the unsavory comment by Mr Lord Commey.

”The comments made by Lord Commey has the potential to align the minds of their foot soldiers and vigilantes” Mr Bilal stated.

LORD COMMEY ASPIRING TO BECOME A REFUGEE – BONO EAST YOUTH WING FUMES

The Bono East Regional Youth Wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) condemns in no uncertain terms of the comments made by Lord Commey, Director of Operations at the Presidency during a speech when he represented the President at the Greater Accra regional delegates conference of the NPP recently held in Accra.

Lord Commey, speaking on behalf of the President declared that the Nana Akuffo Addo led government is not prepared to hand over power to an opposition government regardless of the will of the people.

He cited instances where the former President Jerry John Rawlings and his wife Mrs. Konadu Agyemang Rawlings supposedly made comments to indicate their unwillingness to hand over power at some point in time and thereby suggesting that the NPP should do whatever it takes to also retain power.

It is our view that the comments made by Lord Commey which sort to incite and charge the base of their party, has the potential to align the minds of their foot soldiers and vigilantes to the thought that the NPP is only ready to win the next election at all cost and will be unwilling to handover to the opposition when it loses the coming elections .

We wish to warn the NPP that any intentions to temper with the country’s current democratic dispensation by attempting to manipulate the upcoming 2024 elections in furtherance of their agenda to perpetually stay in power will be resisted with every drop of sweat and blood by the youth of the NDC.

Lord Commey and his like-thinking NPP supporters should note that the teeming NDC youth only hearkened to the voice of party leadership and decided to remain calm when it was evidently clear that the NPP bulldozed its way through in the 2020 elections resulting in the loss of human lives for the first time in our electoral history, in Techiman South and other parts of the country . We however assure them that 2024 will be different since any attempt to manipulate the outcome of the 2024 election will be considered an attack on our democracy, a treasonable act which will be resisted at the peril of our lives.

The NDC considers the 2024 election a “rescue mission” because the NPP government has destroyed the state and its institutions to a point that the NDC is willing to go to martyrial length to wrestle power from the NPP so as to restore the destiny of this country.

With deteriorating socioeconomic conditions, high cost of living, rising insecurity and youth unemployment staring us glaringly in the face, the focus of this clueless NPP government however, is on how to retain power obviously through clandestine means as they lack the credibility to convince Ghanaians anymore.

If Lord Commey and his NPP are willing to plunge this country into chaos in their quest for insatiable power, he (Lord Commey) should note that in the case of any tensions or civil war, he will become a refugee first before any other Ghanaian. What the NPP must know is that the decision to stay in power is not theirs to make but absolutely the right of Ghanaians whose choice will be respected and safeguarded at all cost.

The Bono East NDC Youth Wing assures the party leadership of its commitment to the rescue mission and is combat-ready to defend our democracy and the dignity of motherland Ghana. We further assure all Ghanaians that the “Do or die” declaration by our flagbearer, Former President John Dramani Mahama is not just a slogan but a movement that enjoys massive support from the youth who will do everything possible to ensure that only the will of Ghanaians prevails in the upcoming 2024 elections.

We finally want to use this medium to call on the Peace Council, Traditional Leaders, CSOs and all peace-loving Ghanaians not to down play the comments made by the NPP’s Lord Commey but rather speak up against such irresponsible statements that have the potential to inflame passions and heighten the political tension in the country.

RELEASED ON 17TH OCTOBER 2021.
