We were appointed in accordance with Article 242 (d), 1992 Constitution: *other members not being more than thirty percent of all the members of the District Assembly, appointed by the President in consultation with the traditional authorities and other interest groups in the district
The same President has appointed and nominated Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives( MMDCEs) in accordance with Article 243 :(1) *There shall be a District chief Executive for every district who shall be appointed by the President with the prior approval of not less than two-thirds majority of members of the Assembly present and voting at the meeting
The concerned group of Government Appointees from the Two hundred and Sixty (260) District Assemblies express our profound gratitude to His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo, the president of the Republic of Ghana for nominating MMDCEs into all the 260 Districts in Ghana on Sunday, 19th September, 2021.
We again congratulate all the nominees and pledge to give them all the maximum support and cooperation for their approval into office as MMDCEs.
We pledge our unflinching support for the chosen Candidates and stand together with any person nominated by the President as MMDCE and to help restrain any act of divisiveness if it arises.
The Seventy percent (70%) elected Assembly Members are our colleagues and we are working together as Assembly Members and we hope that same support shall be given to the nominated candidates.
Every District Assembly is made up of one Constituency irrespective of our political affiliations.
The primary aim and objective of every District Assembly is to bring and promote local development and that should be the aim and objective of every MMDCE nominated and nothing more.
We urge all persons nominated by the president for MMDCE and their affiliates to close their ranks and focus on local development.
Any Act of divisiveness should be restrained by the Security agencies if it arises.
Once again, we congratulate all nominees and pledge our 30% support in advance for them.
Thank you.
