The National Communications Officer for the opposition National Democratic Congress has described the press conference of the ruling New Patriotic Party by their National Communication Director as ”comical”.
The NPP National Communication Director and a former Member of Parliament last week, held a press conference to respond to statements by the Former President, HE John Dramani Mahama in his ”Thank you tour” in the northern regions of Ghana.
Mr Mahama during his tour also engaged in media interviews where he commented on a number of issues of public interest, decrying mismanagement of the economy and an unprecedented debt hole under the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government.
According to former President Mahama ”Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government has plunged the country into economic hardships emanating from the imposition of several taxes on Ghanaians”.
In a sharp rebuttal from the NPP National Communication Director, Mr Buabeng Asamoah, on the statement by the Former President Mahama, Mr Buabeng alleged that Former President Mahama is only peddling a falsehood of economic hardship. Mr Buabeng Asamoah said ”Ghanaians are better of now under President Akufo-Addo than they were under Former President Mahama”.
In a press conference addressed by the NDC National Communications Officer on Monday, August 30, in a direct response to Mr Buabeng Asamoah said ”Mr Buabeng’s comical display is as amusing as it is disturbing. It is amusing because it demonstrates the willingness of this government to trivialize the suffering of people and it is disturbing because it shows that the NPP and their leaders have completely detached themselves from the very harsh economic conditions of Ghanaians and chosen to dwell in a delusional bubble”.
Mr Sammy Gyamfi further stated that the current economic difficulties of Ghanaians under the Akufo-Addo government are not the product of any imaginary or delusional fantasy of members of the opposition.
To Mr Sammy Gyamfi ”President Mahama echoed the sentiments of the vast majority of Ghanaians on their economic hardships under the Akufo-Addo government”.
