The National Democratic Congress in the Volta Region have thrown their support for the organizers of ”open our borders”.
This was contained in a press release signed by Mr Sorkpa K. Agbleze, the Volta Regional Communications Officer of the NDC.
It would be recall that all borders in the Volta Region were closed at the hike of COVID-19 in Ghana by the orders of President Akufo-Addo and these borders remain closed since 2020.
Though some Members of Parliament from the Volta Region early this year, pleaded with the government to put up the necessary steps in place to open all the borders to both human and vehicular movement, it seems that their call has not been heeded to my the Akufo-Addo government.
The ”open our borders” organizers are of the view that demonstration is the only way for the government to hear their plight; how the closed borders continue to erode the economic gains of families in the Volta Region and the urgent need for the government to immediately open up the borders for business activities.

NDC VOLTA SUPPORTS THE ORGANIZERS OF THE OPEN OUR BORDERS DEMONSTRATION SCHEDULED FOR FRIDAY 27TH AUGUST 2021
The NDC in the Volta Region wishes to inform the general public that it has thrown it’s weight behind the noble course of the organizers of the OPEN OUR BORDERS DEMONSTRATION and calls on our teeming supporters to join the demonstration intended to let the Nana Addo government know that his decision to close the land borders is bringing untold hardship on the people of the Volta Region and other border towns in the country.
As we call on our supporters to join the demonstration, we also call on the organizers to ensure that participants strictly observe all the Covid-19 Protocols such as:
1. Wearing of face masks throughout the march, from point of convergence to the end-point.
2. Observing social distancing at arms length between protestors throughout the protest.
3. Using of hand sanitizers throughout the protest.
4. Washing of their hands at Denu before and at the end of the protest in Aflao.
