”I seemed to have taken things for granted – ‘Kissing Priest’ apologises

The Anglican Priest who was seen in a viral video kissing three female students in turns at the St. Monica’s College of Education has apologized profusely for his actions.

Father Obeng Larbi in an apology letter said “I seemed to have taken a number of things for granted. I did not think my behavior through and I admit that the act and its setting are wrong even in the absence of Covid-19”.

Father Larbi explained that the three students seen in the video are Level 300 students who are part of students who would be going for their Macro Teaching (Off-Campus Teaching Practice) when College resumes the next academic year.

He added that the students “performed extraordinarily well and were therefore called to be appreciated by the Chaplain. An attempt to add a human touch resulted in the scene in the video.”

The video on social media shows Father Obeng Larbi on stage inviting the three students for a mouth-to-mouth kiss one after the other. The preacher is seen directing the students to drop their face masks for the kiss.

The Anglican Church condemned the incident and he was later sacked from his post at the school, acting Principal of the College of Education, Dr Okyere Korankye confirmed in a statement.

In a statement, the Anglican church said investigations into the incident have started and appropriate sanctions will apply.
