The Bono Regional Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress has called on the Inspector General of Police to swiftly arrest the NPP chairman for Fomena Constituency.
The NPP Chairman for Fomena in a viral video interview, stated that ”more people will be kept in the bush in the 2024 General Elections”.
In the said video, which has courted several public resentment, the NPP constituency chairman, Mr Akwasi Nti further stated that ”action is what we demand for; the NPP have been soft and intimidated by the NDC for long. This is not a case for the National Security – this requires the action of our ”men” for the NDC to know that they are not the only people with violence”.
In what seems to be the response by the Bono Regional Communications Officer, Mr Charles Akowuah Tuffour said ”this is a test case to see how the IGP – Dr. Dampare, will react to these statements by the NPP chairman especially at the time when the families of the nine victims who were killed in the 2020 General Elections are yet to be served with justice”.
Mr Charles Akowuah recounted on how he received the sad news of Silas in July 2020, during the voters registration exercise at Banda, when a group of people blocked the taxi that Silas was travelling on and subsequently stabbed him to death.
According to the Bono Regional Communications Officer for the NDC, the statements by the NPP chairman, Mr Akwasi Nti must not be treated lightly like how similar war drumming statements were treated in 2020 which led to the lost of two lives in the Bono Region (Banda and Nkrankwanta) in the registration exercise and the subsequently murder of nine people during the election in December 2020.
The Bono Regional Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress, made this appeal to the Inspector General of Police on Saturday, August 14, on Masemtvgh.
”Mr IGP, we are all waiting for your next line of action regarding these statements by Mr Akwasi Nti in the coming week. The step you will take will inform some of us, on the next action to be taken ahead of the 2024 General Elections”.
