PRESS RELEASE
BY AHAFO REGIONAL COMMUNICATION BUREAU OF NDC ON PRESIDENT NANA ADDO’S VISIT TO THE REGION..
Tshe Ahafo Regional NDC welcome HE the president of the republic into the region for the first time after his questionable victory in the 2020 elections.
The NDC as a party wishes to remind the President and his party the various promises they made in the run up to 2016 and 2020 elections which he has woefully failed to deliver, we will like the President to account for his already failed promises instead of making new ones.
We are however looking forward to be addressed on why the following campaign promises made by the President have not materialized and also the neglect of uncompleted projects started by his predecessor former President Mahama.
The people of Ahafo would want to know why contractors abandoned sites and work stalled on all major roads in the region thus:
1.The road from Goaso to Tepa , Bediako – Kasapin to camp 15 junction road , Kukuom to Sankore road, Hwidiem to Kenyase road, Bechem – Techimantia to Akomadan road, Techimantia – Derma to Asuoso road, Yamfo-Bomaa to Tepa road, Duayaw Nkwanta to Bomaa road etc all these roads were awarded to constructors and some were at stages of applying bitumen during President Mahama’s era. Unfortunately the contractors abandoned sites and left it to rot with the directive from the President to audit the contracts, which has not seen the light of day after 4 years and we feel is a financial loss to the state.
2.The good people of Ahafo would want to know from the President and his Government where farmers especially cocoa farmers can have access to purchase fertilizers which were delivered freely without a pesewa to the cocoa farmers in the erstwhile President Mahama’s government.
Your minister for food and agriculture did indicate that donkeys have turn themselves business animals by crossing the border with fertilizers to sell in our neighboring countries, let me emphasize this, Mr President, that the 14000 bags of fertilizers which got missing in the Asunafo north constituency was not carried by donkeys but rather it was transported by vichcles with able assistance of your appointees obeying your directives .
3.It has also been reported in the news that the touted Government flagship planting for food and jobs program which was launched in Goaso in 2017 is facing serious crisis referenced to your minister for food and Agriculture hence Ghana is importing over 60000 metric tons of maize into the country because of its domestic shortage and the fact that { PFJ } didn’t yield desired outcomes.
4.Mr President the people especially unemployed youth of Ahafo will want to know where you constructed their district factories you promised them in 2016 so the can apply for jobs.
5. Mr President the good people of Ahafo region demands their fair share of the one million per constituency you promised, which has accrued to $24million per constituency in the last four years.
6. Mr President Kasapin community senior high school, Bomaa 18 unit classrooms block etc are left in deplorable state to house reptiles while students live in bad conditions in our various senior high Schools. Mr President don’t tickle yourself and laugh while deceiving us by directing a contractor to town road projects such as the Goaso roundabout to Geoge Bayern junction road just to celebrate your arrival because we know the contractor will leave site immediately after your departure from the region.
We have taking notice of your promises in your tour as if you were on a campaign thrill, we demand progress report on projects Government and party communicators always talk about and concentrate to their completion rather than promising additional ones. Mr President we need results and not rhetorics. Ahafo region yarns for development.
We therefore encourage our chiefs and traditional leaders to speak truth to power by telling the President how their various communities are deprived of development and stop the insubstantial praises.
Long live Ahafo Region
