The current NPP chairman for Sunyani East and an aspirant for the Municipal Chief Executive for the Sunyani Municipal has said that the main problem of Ghana is not the LGBTQ+.
Mr Musah Damtarl made this comment in reaction to a call by the Central Regional Youth Wing of the opposition National Democratic Congress, calling on the Vice President, Dr Alhaji Mahmoud Bawumia, to openly speak to the trending issue or be forced to assume that Dr Bawumia tacitly supports the LGBTQ+ practice in Ghana.
”Our call for a public statement from the Vice President on the subject is premised on the fact that Alhaji Dr Mahmoud Bawumia professes to be a religious Muslim and especially so when the Holy Qu’ran emphatically frowns on the LGBTQ practices” the NDC Central Regional Youth Wing stated in its Press release on Sunday, July 25.
In what seems to be a direct response to the NDC Youth Wing by the NPP chairman for Sunyani East Constituency, Mr Musah Damtarl said ”What has come over these people? The last time it was the President who should openly denounce it. This time, Bawumia. Who says LGBTO issues are the main problem of Ghana?”
Mr Musah Damtarl further said ”Let this country grow up on political issues. Let’s focus on shelter, food and clothing issues first”.
