The Central Regional Youth Wing of the NDC demands a public pronouncement from Alhaji Bawumia on the raging issues and extensive debate on the proposed legislation to criminalize the practice of LGBTQ in the country.
Our call for a public statement from the Vice President on the subject matter is premised on the fact that Alhaji Dr Mahmoud Bawumia professes to be a religious muslim and especially so when the Holy Quran emphatically frowns on LGBTQ practices, as copiously captured in Surah Al-Araf, Verse 80
“And (We sent) Lut when he said to his people: Why do you commit an indecency (homosexuality) which any one in the world has not done before you” and Surah Al-Araf, Verse 81:
“Most surely you come to males in lust besides females; nay you are an irresponsible people”.
In fact, Isamic religious practice and culture vehemently frowns upon homosexuality and it is totally forbidden in Islamic jurisprudence. It is therefore important that, Alhaji Bawumia does not only take an unrepentant position against the practice of LGBTQ IN Ghana, but also use his good office as the Vice President of our land to ensure that such catastrophic and dehumanising practice is completely eradicated from our folds as a country by openly supporting the proposed bill to criminalise the LGBTQ practice.
His default indifferent and silent posture towards the LGBTQ discussions cannot be tolerated any longer.
He must speak openly to the issue or well meaning Ghanaians will be forced to assume that, he Bawumia tacitly supports the LGBTQ practice in Ghana.
Thank you.
