MTN FA Cup: Kotoko knocked out

Defending champions Asante Kotoko have been knocked out of the MTN FA Cup after losing on penalties to Berekum Chelsea at the Len Clay stadium.

Kotoko were dominant in the game and missed several chances in regular time.

Fabio Gama came closest in the first half as his penalty was saved.

In the second half, Evans Adomako’s effort came off the post as Berekum Chelsea held on.

The game saw the two sides failing to separate themselves in extra time.

Berekum Chelsea scored all five penalties as Wahab Adams missed for the Porcupine Warriors.

The defeat means Kotoko go trophyless for the first time since 2015 and won’t be playing in Africa next season.

In the last quarter final game, Medeama secured a place in Africa next season after beating Attram De Vissier 3-2 after extra time.

Medeama raced into a two goal lead through Benjamin Arthur and Ahmed Toure.

Two quick fire goals in the second half drew Attram De Vissier level forcing the game into extra time.

Medeama were rewarded a penalty in extra time which Prince Opoku Agyemang dispatched it to send the Mauve and Yellows into the semi-finals.

AshantiGold and Berekum Chelsea failed to submit a bid to play in next season’s CAF inter club competitions.

As a result, Medeama will play in the Confederations Cup next season because Hearts of Oak have already booked a place in the CAF Champions League.

MTN FA Cup Semi finals:
