Yesterday morning, I passed by EL Wak Sports Stadium and inside the stadium was full and outside the stadium was a very long queue of Ghanaians seeking for Ghana Armed Forces job.
In my estimation, those at EL Wak could be over 7,000. This is only Accra. Same numbers turned up in other regions as well.
This is a classic example of high rate of unemployment in the country where citizens have to spend 200 cedis to even apply.
What are the duties of all government in reducing unemployment in the country? To increase or pay abnormal salaries or allowances to board members, CEO’s of state corporations or enterprises, presidential staffers, ministers, aides, MPs, MMDCEs that has a huge financial burden on our consolidated fund and funds of corporation or enterprises hence not enough resources to employ the youth? Engaging the Institute of Surveyors and Engineers to criminally inflate cost of capital projects across the country and a criminal act passed by Parliament called the Public Procurement Act to support the criminal cost in the award of contract for the execution of the projects, is what government do to create jobs? Borrow huge sums of money to finance the criminally inflated capital projects for kickbacks which result in spending hugely for less projects for jobs?
Since the 4th Republic, all capital projects never generated revenues to pay off the loans but rather we borrow to pay for the earlier borrowings.
There are jobs in the public sector and significant jobs would have been created but all governments have failed to employ the youth because they spend abnormally in terms of salaries and allowances and other benefits on their political appointees for the benefit of their parties at the expense of the youth who are most unemployed. Why are political appointees and MPs paying 10% of their salary to their parties and for what? Is that not corruption or fraud perpetuated on we the ordinary citizens of this country? All Government spend so much on few capital projects for less jobs meanwhile, the volume of money spent should have created huge number of jobs but we are rather worse of.
Ghanaians should know that, our leaders intentionally created and creating unemployment in the country to amass wealth for themselves and their family only. They want us to be beggars before them so they buy our votes with the money they amassed when in power. We need to rise against political thievery in this country, the earlier the better. Politics shouldn’t be about loot and share in our country but rather to see to the needs of the citizens of the country.
Our MPs do not care about amending our constitution but they have successfully drafted a new standing orders of the house which they are in the process to approve. It has been alleged that, they have proposed more committees in the house and to me its intention is just to amass wealth and nothing better from it. Our MPs are being paid 25% to 30% of their salaries as being a committee member each month payable quarterly. There are MPs earning over 100,000 cedis per month from parliament alone yet citizens are suffering looking for jobs. Government keep paying illegal ex gratia to judges when that money would have created thousands of jobs.
Government should reduce compensation cost of their appointees and MPs by 30% and over 100,000 jobs will be created in the shortest possible. Government should put an end to contract inflation and jobs will be created.
The youth, we ain’t angry enough for our leaders to know our pains and sufferings in this country.
