in a Facebook post few hours ago regarding the decision by President Akufo-Addo to pay his spouse and that of his vice president a whooping amount of money as monthly salaries.

After the news broke up about this decision, there has been a continous call by the general public for president Akufo-Addo to immediately withdraw his decision to make this payment. While people describe this salary as insensitive to the plight of the ordinary Ghanaian, others see the action by the president as another way of giving the resources of the state to his family members at the time where majority of the people are faced with higher economic hardships.

Another of individuals and organizations have expressed shock and disappointment by president Akufo-Addo to have acted the way he did especially when the economy is in mess.

The aide to Tue former president who is not surprised about the action by president Akufo-Addo to pay his spouse and that of his vice president on her facebook page revealed series of incidents to buttress her point and asked whether Ghana is all about President Akufo-Addo and his family.

”So you see why many NDC people and for that matter discerning Ghanaians often get upset when NDC seems to be reaching consensus or MoU’s of a sort with this crook, tyrant and wicked Akufo Addo? Was President Mahama not validly elected President of Ghana? Akufo Addo is simply heartless” Joyce Bawa stated on her facebook page.

“We were all in this country when Akufo-Addo refused Former President John Dramani Mahama the use of a government house, as he was entitled to, as a former president.

In fact, President Mahama is the only former president who does not have an office from the State as is his right. And it is because President Akufo-Addo refuses him that privilege.

Today, the same Akufo-Addo and the NPP are making moral arguments to justify the decision to pay the First and Second Ladies monthly salaries, equivalent to that of a Cabinet Minister, backdated to 2017 January, and with all benefits due a Cabinet Minister.

As someone said, is this country all about Nana Addo’s family?
