Sunyani Airport project is in progress unlike other gov’t projects in the region – Omanhene of Drobo

The Vice President of Bono Regional House of Chiefs and Omanhene of Drobo Traditional Council Okokyeredom Sakyi Ako ll has announced that Sunyani Airport project is moving steadly as expected by the authorities of the region.

He said though many projects earmarked for the region by the government were not moving as expected but the airport project is exceptionally moving.

According to the chief, by close of 2022, the Sunyani Airport is expected to operate with its full capacity. He stressed that the ongoing runway project for phase one was expected to be thousand one hundred metres.

The phase two runway was also expected to take about thousand nine hundred metres.

Okokyeredom Sakyi Ako ll said this in an interview with the media in Sunyani onbehalf of the President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs Osagyefo Oseadeyo Agyemang Badu ll, after he led a delegation to inspect the ongoing Sunyani Airport project.

He reiterated the importance for chiefs to convene emmergency meeting with lands commission, Civil Aviation, the assembly and other traditional authorities within the airport vicinity to thrashout the issues of encroachment on the airport land.

To bring chieftaincy to bear on the needs of the people, he assured that any building which would be demarcated as encroached the airport, will strictly be demolished to pave way for second phase of the project to continue.

He appealed to government to make processes to approve the second phase immediately the first phase is completed.

Delegation amongst the chiefs were the Omanhene of Nsoko, Daasebre Okogyeaman Duodu Ampim ll, Osabarima Okokyeredom Kwadwo Sito ll, Bandamanhene.
