Sefwi Wiaso case; Court adjourns sitting to the 28th and 29th of June

The Sefwi Wiawso High Court today 25th June, 2021, again sat on the ongoing case between Hon Evans Paul Aidoo(Petitioner), Dr Kwaku Afriyie(1st Respondent) and the Electoral Commission(2nd Respondent).

The petitioner who stood on the ticket of the NDC was represented in court by Lawyer Victor Adawudu and the 1st respondent was represented by Lawyer Frank Davies but a brief was held on his behalf by Lawyer Nkuah.

Today’s proceedings was specifically about the various witness statements directed to be filed by all parties by court. The Lawyer for the petitioner, Mr Victor Adawudu prayed the court that though he had complied with the directive of the court by filing the witness statements, he intends to add one more witness statement making three. He prayed the court to grant him that leave because at the time he was filing the two witness statements, the third witness was bereaved and unavailable.

On the part of the 1st respondent(NPP), the Lawyer prayed for same leave with the excuse that, the principal witness to the case is in the cells of the Sunyani Police Station and that has distorted their plan. He further prayed to the court to allow him fall on the second witness.

On the part of the 2nd respondent(EC), he also prayed the court to grant him to amend the witness statement filed.

The trial judge, Justice Kwame Amoako in his ruling granted all the parties their request and subsequently adjourned sitting to the 28th and 29th of June, 2021.
