The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), James Oppong Boanuh, has said the failure on the side of fathers to play their roles at home has resulted in the breeding of deviants and criminals.
According to the IGP, children grow to become criminals and enemies of society because their fathers fail to provide guidance and training when they were young.
The IGP has advised fathers not to shirk their responsibilities and should understand that their role as fathers contributes immensely to a congenial environment for all and sundry. It will also lead to much recognition of fathers on Fathers’ Day.
“We need to nurture our children to be of good behaviour. Today, it is common to see fathers ignore their financial responsibilities. It is therefore not surprising that the attention given to Father’s Day is not as much as that of Mother’s Day.”
“Most of the serious crimes that we witness today can be attributed to the increasing rate of broken homes. It is about time our Fathers become responsible, this way, a number of societal problems will be solved,” he added.
