The opposition National Democratic Congress has strongly resolved to collectively vote against the approval of Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah at the floor of Parliament.
Mr Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, one of the three nominees designate for the the Deputy Minister for Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development contested in the 2020 Election as a Parliamentary Candidate on the ticket of the ruling New Patriotic Party and was declared winner amidst gunshots at the collation centre that led to the death of two persons while several others sustained varied degree of life threatening injuries.
Members of the Appointment Committee in Parliament from the opposition National Democratic Congress on Friday, June 11, 2021, boycotted the vetting of the nominee when he took turn at the Vetting Committee.
Information available to Masemtvgh.com reveal that the leadership of the NDC Parliamentary Caucus has taken up this singular decision in unison to protest for the seemingly delay of investigation into the bizzare incident that resulted in the lost of lives at Techiman South in the 2020 Parliamentary Election.
Mr Haruna Iddrisu, the Minority Leader in Parliament indicated that the decision to whip up his members to collectively vote against the approval of Mr Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah is to seek justice for the victims and protect the true will of the ordinary voter in the Techiman South Constituency.
”We have resolved to vote against his nominee when the Vetting Committee present its report at the floor of Parliament” he said.
Mr Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah will be the first Deputy Minister nominee in the second term of President Akufo-Addo to go through this exercise of secret voting in Parliament to determine his fate as a simple majority is required for his approval or rejection by the Floor of Parliament.
It could be recalled that, the likes of Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Hawa Koomson and others went through a similar exercise of secret voting for their approval by Parliament as ministers in the second term of President Akufo-Addo
