Minister commissions an ultra modern toilet facility at Anglican Junior High School

The Regional Minister for the Bono Region Justina Owusu-Banahene has enjoined Ghanaians to shun open defecation and endeavour to construct latrines for appropriate disposal of human waste.

She reiterated that government would continue to provide enabling environment to improve standard of living by implementing existing laws and creating relevant agencies and facilities, as well as collaborate with relevant stakeholders to reduce the habit of open defecation.

Speaking at the commissioning of an ultra modern toilet facility constructed for the Anglican Junior High School in Sunyani on Thursday said, access to safe drinking water and improved sanitation results in reduced incidences of water-borne diseases such as diarrhoea and cholera.

She advised the people to maintain sound hygienic behaviour, and keep their natural surroundings clean, to stem the outbreak of fatal diseases and urged the management of the school to take good care of the facility in order to expand its life span by ensuring regular maintenance.

Accompanying her were the Regional Cordinator for the Ghana School Feeding Programme also the Regional Second Vice Chairperson for the New Patriotic Party Doris Asoma and other officials of the coordinating council.
